Question Stuck in park...

The bad news-- After start-up, I frequently find the shift selector can't be moved to any gear. After several attempts, and a bit of waiting, I'm able to move the selector normally. Moving the steering wheel doesn't do anything to alleviate this lockup.
The good news-- I'm retired; this will never make me late to work. Also, this truck will never be used as a getaway vehicle in a major crime spree!
Anybody else had this experience? Is this a function of high idle rpm's, or what? The truck is only one month old, and has less than 1K miles on it. Thanks.

I am assuming that you have your foot firmly on the brake pedal first so that you can move it out of park. The next thing is that it can be difficult to move if you are parked on a steep hill and have not used your parking brake.

Thumbs up

Thanks for the response, acadianbob. The brake-shift interlock system is probably where I'm going to find the answer to this problem. Just got to make sure I do the same thing everytime at start up. The problem is intermittent, and the manual suggests a procedure to try when it occurs.
