I just got my shift kit, it goes in to be installed monday morning. Anybody that has one, can you tell me the difference in shifting from the level 3 setting or from the level 4 setting? I was going to have mine set on level 4. I just want to know wich setting is better, and what to expect after it`s installed.
speeder,
I have the Baumann set on stage 4. Others here, gah in particular, have a stage 3 setting.
I recall gah saying that he felt some shifting improvement on a Stage 3 setting but not a dramatic difference. However, I belive he is not using a super chip. If gah sees this, he may comment further.
I installed the Baumann kit after reading gah's post about his experience on Stage 3 setting and decided to use a Stage 4 setting. I am using a superchip as well (with its improved shifting commands to the computer). On a stage 4 setting, there was a definite firming up in the shifting. In fact, for the first couple of days, I thought about dropping the pan again and loosening up the 1-2 shift firmness a little as it felt a little harsh to me at part throttle. The other shifts were OK for me an the Stage 4 setting. However, after a week or so, the 1-2 shift loosened up a bit and is now just right for me I would say. The 1-2 shift is now very firm, but not neck snapping at part throttle. At WOT, the 1-2 shift is neck snapping.
Hope this helps.

Speeder: I also ordered the Baumann Shift Kit. How long did it take you to get it? I ordered mine 2 weeks ago. I am going to set mine at 3 because I am running a blower & a Superchip. I can always go to 4 if it's not firm enough.

I got my shift kit seven days after i ordered it. I was reading the instructions and it says level three is moderate, level four is moderate plus. I think i will go with level four. Can`t wait to see how it turns out.
No, I did not really notice any "seat of the pants" increase, perhaps a very slight improvement in throttle response. I believe it is one of those mods that increases performance ever so slightly, but since it is free, hey, why not do it.
To all others,
I installed the Baumann kit myself and I had never even seen the inside of a valve body before. The Baumann instructions were very good. I had no trouble with the installation other than my own boneheadedness (LOL!!) and I was glad I installed it myself once it was all said and done due to the knowledge and experience gained. If you have even the slightest mechanical knowledge, you can do this mod. Familyride, I remember you (I believe it was you) installing the Gibson catback yourself. The Baumann mod is no more difficult than that, except more messy due to the transmission fluid.
Hope this helps.

I have that same phoebia to, if something can go wrong it will. But mostly i just don`t have the time, i work six days a week and on the seventh day i rest. There is a transmission shop about two blocks from my job so i can drop it off in the morning and pick it up when done.
