Yes the tranny gasket is reusable. They are all designed to be reused...so handle it with care.

Lightbulb

I saw a replacement pan at www.summitracing.com It even adds 3 additional quarts of capacity.

Drawback? COST ! It was very "pricey"...at least for me !

Thumbs up

Looking at the www.summitracing.com site again I also found a "transmission drain kit" manufactured by B&M for about $7.00 !! A great alternative to the expensive replacement pan. It says you drill the pan next time you have it off and this deal bolts in the hole and then you have a drain plug to take out the next time. Cool huh?!?!

I put a B&M pan on last week. It's a beauty ... finned aluminum. The trans gets up to 175F-180F and that's going up hill in 85F weather.
As for the pan, it's excellent quality, brand new allen head hardware, drain plug with magnet, holds three extra quarts and of course uses the original gasket.

Could you give me some information on how the filter extension is set up on the B&M pan. Is it a plastic extension with a o ring? Also, does anybody know how much difference in temprature the B&M pan provides. I am thinking of getting one but they are pricy.

I was pleased to discover that I didn't need a filter extension on my truck. The B&M pan has some short 2" posts at the bottom to support the underside of the filter. The instructions did mention using the 4x4 filter though. When I bought my filter from Redline, they only had a listing for one trans filter, but the one they had was identical to the original.

y2kxlt,
I changed the pan, switched to Amsoil ATF, installed a shift kit, and installed a temp gauge at the same time so I have no previous numbers for comparison.
All I can tell you is that the max temp I've seen on the gauge is 185F, and that's going up a long hill, OD off, 85F outside temp. It takes a long time for the temp to even reach its steady operating temp of 155F~160F.
