Post FACTORY TECH, SHIFT KIT 4r100?

Thanks for the info with the bellhouseing question.
Could you maybe give a little advice on getting the 4r100 tranny to shift a lot firmer and faster. With the 4r100 and a 5.4l combo will any 4r100 kit work, from say the superduty or the lightning, due to the tranny variations between the trucks?

I don't honestly know, I would definetly tell them exactly what model you have, (the ID tag is forward of the extension housing on the driver's side) and raise that question with whoever sells the kit. I don't reccomend shift kits, I just don't see the point, and I'm always scared of what any non-factory setup is doing to the factory programming. Same reason I won't superchip my truck, I know everyone says they're safe etc.... but it scares me anyway. If I keep the Lightning until it's out of warranty, (which I haven't done in yearas but I just may for this one) I'll consider a few things, but the first $1500 new transmission I have to buy will ruin my day, or worse, I'll cheap out and fix it myself. Not that I mind rebuilding a tranny, but it's a major inconvenience to me to have to take one out of a truck. The rebuild itself only takes about an hour, but all that under the truck work is stuff I'm getting a little old for.

Factory Tech, I have a 2001 Exp. with the 5.4 and 3.55 rearend. I have two questions.

1) Do expeditions with the tow package have different computer programs for the transmission shifts (firmness) and shift points?

2) From what you are saying would you NOT put a B&M electronic shift improver kit? How could firmer shifts, and less slippage be bad?

Thanks for your reply in advance.

On the computer program, HighRisk would be a better person to ask, that's an assembly plant thing and I haven't got a clue, I think but don't know that any program can be re-flashed by a dealer.
On the shift kit, no, I wouldn't do it myself, not saying that you shouldn't I just choose to stick with the factroy settings. I know the dealer can service them and there aren't any warranty issues. The difference in performance isn't worth the trade off to me, I go to a drag stip sometimes, but just for fun and a few tenths here or there aren't a big deal to me.
Hope it helps,

G
