Question Shifts Out Of First Fast?

Is it me or does my SCREW Shift of first gear fast. Has anyone else noticed this?

Are you talking about shifting at part throttle, such as making a turn when the light turns green? If so, that's the way Ford does it these days. The only way I know of to change that is to put a Superchip in.

Yes, it does shift out of first quickly even with the super chip in. But hammer the throttle at 33mph, and it downshifts to first at 3500 rpm. Scares the $@$# out of my wife, but the kids love it.

Yes it does happen at part throttle. I guess the Torque of the 5.4 and the wide ratio of the transmission is why. Not really a complaint just an observation. Any thoughts Factory tech?

Mine shifts to second at 11-13 mph, to third at 20-23 mph, and is in fourth between 35 and 40 mph.

I can barely sense the shifts. I love it.

The thing runs like it's powered by an electric motor.

On top of that, my Y2K's torque converter stalls at 1800 rpm while the one in my '97 stalled at around 2600 rpm -- with the result being: I can get around town (starting like I have an egg under my foot) nicely with shifts at between 2,000 to 2,300 rpm -- and it will still run pretty well when I get the 'wild hair'.

It tows pretty well (20' travel trailer GCW @ 11,500#), shifting exactly where I'd program it if I did it myself.

Ford: You did a great job!
