Post 5 Speed Auto?

I have a 2001 SuperCrew and it almost seems as if I have a 5 (yes five) speed AUTO tranny. Could this be just a torque converter lockup at cruising speed that just looks like a shift to 5th on the tach?

What you feel is the converter locking up. The good news is that in MY 2003 the 4R100 is being replaced with a new 5R110!, deisels and lightnings in '03 and the rest in '04. BON reports that this transmission will be availible as an option in the F-150, where a 4R100 is onlyu in a very few of the light pickups, you ussually have to get a Super Duty to get the big transmission (except in Lightnings and LEV states).

i don't think that I have the 4R100 in my truck...but it claims to be an LEV model. Actually, Ford was touting something like ALL Supercrews were LEV, not just the ones destined for states with smog rules such as CA and NY. This doesn't make any sense.

Upon further review...my window sticker says F-SERIES LOW EMISSION VEHICLE

but I have code "U" on the door sticker.
