Question Trann. Fluid

I am fixing to change the fluid in my 96 150, and was wondering if anyone is running any of the synth. oils, I am running Mobil 1 Synth. engine oil and seen to be pretty happy with it, has helped on the mpg, so I thought Id try it in the trannie, any advice is appriciated, Thanks

Synthetics are much better, however, I would not switch if you've been using conventionals for over 40-50K. You might want to stick with what you've been using. I have been running conventional in mine for the same reason. Was told not to switch at 45K. Transmissions can be very tempermental. A slight change in fluid can increase wear.

Rand I have never heard that switching to synthetics can increase wear in your transmission.
Seems the #1 killer of transmissions is heat! Since Most synthetics can reduce temps up to 70 degree, I would think this would help your transmission last a lot longer than using conventionals.

If you want some more information Call Line-X of New Mexico over on Harrelson ST. 505-527-0777
He is an Amsoil dealer over there in Cruces that I met a while ago. Maybe he can answer some of your questions.
