Question Shutter between 2nd and 3rd under normal Accel

My dad has a 97 F-150 with 4.6L Automatic and when you accel from a stand still it will shutter between 2nd and 3rd. It doesn't do it under full throttle and doesn't occur every time. We are wondering if the tranny needs to be flushed or is it a engine problem such as plugs, wires, coil packs. The truck has 50000 miles on it. We would appreciate any help we can get

Thanks
MW

Sounds like tranny's never had the oil changed.

First-line fix is to change fluid. Seems to help most who've posted on that issue before.

Some have had good luck with power-flush (where cooling line is hooked up to machine that catches old fluid as new stuff goes thru) -- and/but be sure to drain your converter and coolant lines too.

(post your results)

The flush machine that connects in the cooler lines is a good way to change the fluid. It will change the fluid in the transmission, torque converter, and cooler lines.
