I have had the truck for about 3 months now.
Everytime I shift from 3rd to 4th gear, there is this clunk sound from underneath. I can feel the clunk in my shifter when this happens. My truck is a 4.2L, and I shift from 3rd to 4th at about 32-35mph each time. Sometimes the clunk isn't there, but most the time I hear and feel it. Is this a problem or is this a common thing with the 5-speed?
Thanks,
Fake

fakefvc, I think you should see your dealer!!
I have a 1997 4.2L c/w 5-speed manual and it shifts great. I'm at 32,000 miles (aprox.) and no noises what so ever from my trans.
Good luck

ahhhhh damn it. That is the reason I sold my 97 Mustang, because of problems, so I bought the truck. Now my brand new 3 month old truck is screwed now. Geeez, this is enough to piss a guy totaly off and buy a chevy...

I would advise you to take it back also if you have not done so already. I am on my 4th 5 speed in 17,00 miles on my 1999 F150. I have lost about a month and a half with the truck being in the shop having transmissions replaced. Mine starts out by hard to put into 1st, then grinds from 2nd to 3rd from time to time.
