Question 96 F150 4x4 4.9L ; have 5spd tranny w/granny, want normal 5spd

I have no use for the 5spd w/the granny, and I want to put in a normal 5spd tranny. Here is my question: I have the 4.9L I-6, do I need to find another tranny from a I-6 or can I just use any F150 tranny as long as the bell housings match up?

Thanks Shaggs87

I am no tranny mechanic or gearhead by any means, but I would try to find a rebuilt or takeout tranny. The bolt patterns are the same for a 4.9L,5.0L,and the 5.8L. Probably wouldn't hurt to put a new clutch in at the same time.
