Question Noise on shift during hard acceleration

Does anyone know anything about a noise that Ford has called "acceptable" - It comes from the tranny (electronic 4spd auto O/D), in the form of a "squeek" when the truck shifts from 2-3 under hard acceleration. The guy I am thinking about buying it from says that the dealer told him it was "normal" for the newer electronic transmissions. I don't believe that it is normal.... but I don't know if it is the dealer lying, or the seller.

I could be wrong, tho. Let me know if you have heard anything about this.

thanks!!

Yep, the harder they shift you'll hear it. Stock mine only did it a few times but with the chip it did it more, and with the shift kit it does it on command. Most say it's the drive belt and hav replaced them with new ones and got rid of it. I'm not sure but I've lived with mine for now. Of course it's not all that often that I drive it so that it shifts hard enough to do it.

Thanks guys. Sounds normal then, I guess. The truck is covered for another 14K miles under the bumper to bumper warranty.... so I guess I have about a year or so to figure it out anyway.

Thanks.

More input would be appreciated, too.

That makes sense. With the Trans-go the shifts are faster, which means the engine speed drops faster during the shift.

The reason the belt squeals is that the engine speed is dropping faster than the accessories slow down, which causes the belt to slip a bit. With the shift kit the engine drops even faster, and the belt squeals more. Makes sense to me!

Mine would do it a little stock. A LOT more with a Superchip and TransGo shift kit.

Many people say changing the serpentine belt for a Goodyear Gatorback solves this problem.
