Question for Factory tech and members

Do you have any info on the upcoming trans for the new powestroke deisel? I know it is a 5 speed auto, just wondering how good it is and how testing is going. Is it being used in a heavier truck already like a f650? I am debating on getting the current setup with the 7.3 or the now 6.0 and trans. I am very leary about first year stuff, but the package sounds to good to be true. Thanks
Terry

It's a great transmission, we benchmarked it against the Allison 1000 and everywhere we measured it was a better box. There are some units in tests now, we're sending some to KTP every once in a while for them to test, from what I hear it's going great, Sharonville is doing everything we can to get a flawless launch on this box, it's our future.
I've seen a few of them, and been inside a few, it's a great box, very heavily built.

Thanks for the reply G. and Tony. I would say that its safe to assume it is gonna be a whole lot better trans than the current one? Thanks again.

Factory_Tech,

Do you know if the new tranny will be behind the V10? When should we expect a valve body upgrade from you?? J/K..

BTW, have you heard of the rumors of some failures at the AZ prooving grounds? http://forums.ford-diesel.com/ubbthr...b=5&o=&fpart=1

Teh V-10 version is a couple of years off, but I wont have any valve bodies for it, it doesn't have any valve bodies, DESC, Direct Electronic Shift Control, all solenoid, all shift strategy is in the Transmission Only stand alone PowerTrain Control Module.

The good news is I'm allready working on a Mosnter Box 5 speed, and I imagine a few tuners will figure out how to mount it in older trucks if you want to retro fit. And the STOCK converter is supposed to be bullet proof from the factory!
