4R70W Service - Warranty Requirement?

What is really required to keep my warranty in effect? The owner's manual says "change trans fluid" at 30,000 miles. The dealer offers a "drain and fill" for $75.00 up to a "complete flush and fill" for $150.00 (I assume the latter includes the torque converter). I realize that the complete service is best long term, but if I am not going to keep it forever and want to meet the requirement to keep my warranty going to 36,000 miles, what do I really need?

Hi Guy

That is a good question...what is "actually" required...your local dealer should know.

Then, if you are given a choice..decide whats best for you.

Good luck....OT

BTW...i do complete drain including TQ.

it all really depends on the dealer. i would bet that most dealers would not know if you had it serviced or not. and even if they did i dont know if they would care. but if you think they will i would ask the dealer. you dont need a flush at 30,000 so i would guess they will tell you that you need to get the fluid changed and a new filter. it cant hurt to get that done anyway. you could do it yourself fairly easily. but it is a messy job and it will cost you almost 50.00 for the filter and fluid. filter was 22.00 at pepboys. and depending on the fluid. so... i guess its up to you.

guy21,

if don't plan on keeping the truck past the warranty period, then don't even bother changing the fluid at all, unless the fluid starts looking burnt or discoloured or the torque converter clutch starts shuddering.
