Question Petro to Synthetic Questions

I'll be changing the fluid and filter on my screw in a few weeks and want to go synthetic. I plan to drop the pan, put in a valve while its out, change filter and empty the convertor. Do I need to completely flush all the fluid from the lines and cooler, if so, how do I accomplish this?

Thanks Ed

Check out amsoil.com. They have a FAQ section that has a step-by-step method for changing your trans fluid/filter. They make a point to stress that you need to replace all the fluid (in the cooler too), and tell you how to do that; a second person would be handy. Even if you weren't going synthetic I would do the same. Mercon and MerconV have different qualities that don't mix. Good Luck!

Careful on which synthetic you choose. If the tranny requires Mercon V, make sure the fluid you use meets Mercon V. For example, Mobil 1 synthetic ATF does NOT meet Mercon V.
