Question Trans clunk during quick stop

Wondering what might be up with my trans. If I am cruising along about 40+ in OD and I make a quick stop I get the feeling that the truck is still being pushed along by the motor until it gets to about 10mph then I get a nice big, shuddering clunk and everything feels normal (as far as the stopping goes). Sort of like it is hung in gear or converter lockup. Seems to have something to do with being in OD as I don't notice it if I try the same stop with 'OD off' selected. Truck is a 97 4x4 with the 4.6 and 133k but supposedly a new or rebuilt trans at about 124k.

thanks

it might be the yoke on your rear drive shaft that is sticking. the yoke is a slide that changes the length of your driveshaft to accomodate changes in load. if you stop fast, it can "rotate" the rear axle thereby causing a change in driveshaft length. if that yoke is sticking, you can get a big clunk. you might also notice it when you accelerate quickly after a quick stop.
