Hey Guys,
I have an 01 supercrew 2wd with the tow package, 3.55 rear end running 285-75 tires. Last weekend was my first time to tow my boat that weighs about 2400 lbs with the new larger tires. The truck seemed to do fine but on the way up a long hill on I40 outside of Needles CA (AKA the middle of no where) the truck did something funny. I had the overdrive off and it was pulling hard for about ten miles at about 60mph. I got caught behind some slow traffic and went down to about 45, when I hopped out to pass I put my foot in it and when the trans went to down shift the truck shuttered violently for about two seconds as it dropped into 2nd. Once it engaged everything went on as normal. It scared the crap out of me though and I really took it easy the rest of the way home without any further problem. Any clue what this may have been? Help!
