Unhappy Fluid!

Well I went under my truck to change my oil last week and noticed fluid coming out of the bottom of my tranny (5-speed). Lately when I push in my clutch it squeaks and it will slip if I am pulling my boat out of the water. Does this mean my slave cylinder is going and my clutch soon to follow? It has 58,000 miles on it and I take care of it but drive it hard. Also I have an extended warranty through G.E Capitol, would the slave cylinder be covered? Obviously the clutch wouldn't. Thanks for all input.

Sounds like you're on the right track. I sure hope the Slave cylinder is covered, as this is definitely a premature failure. If the clutch is damaged, I would push for that too if it can be shown that the failed part damaged the clutch. With easy driving, these clutches last much longer. I currently have 82K on mine.

Thanks!

I'll let you know if it is covered and it sure would be nice to convince them that it caused the clutch to wear premature. Thanks

Crossing my fingers!

I took my truck to a local Ford dealer to check out the possible fluid leak. He told me that it would probably be under warranty and it would be a great time to replace the clutch.....So tell me what is the best clutch. I have heard centerforce does not last and that Napa sells a good one. Please help. Thx.

Thumbs up DONE!

Just got the truck back and they replaced the synchros and put a new clutch assembly in. I went ahead and purchased the Borg Warner clutch and it seems to work very well. Thanks for the input.
