Question Can anyone recommend

looking for an transmission shop that has experience with the TRANSGO shift kit. I'm in the Chicago area, but I'll travel a bit. I called a few shops to ask them were they familiar with the kit, and here's the response I got....
"Sure we've installed alot of those kits. It going to be expensive because we have to pull the trans out"

There got to be some trans performance shops in my area that KNOW this product

Thanks in advance

I know the weather is still sort of cool around Chicago but, with simple hand tools you can do the job yourself.
The trans does not have to come out. They must just want your money bad.

Deacon,

I just installed my kit and the hardest part was getting the truck up on 4 jacks. If your tranny is in good condition and your are only looking to improve firmness and response then you only need to drop the pan and replace some springs.

If you are looking to do all the mods because your tranny is slipping and you need to install the full kit you will have to pull the tranny. If this was my problem, then I would definately bring it to a shop for the install, IMO.

After competing the install myself, I cannot see any reason to pay someone to do it, it is that easy.

Good luck with your decision.

Hup, my thoughts exactly..And the weather has been F#@%up lately. Lots of rain.

Kpaton

I have no problems with my trans at this time. However if I ever do develop problems, that's when I'll have it totally rebuilt..
BTW, The thought of removing anything (except ATF) from my trans intimidates the hell out of me... (for now)

In the mean time, I'm still looking for a proformance trans shop
