Lightbulb very rough shifting

I have a 97 F-150 5.4L V8 Auto. Every once and awhile when i take off from a stop sign under light acceleration the trans. will not shift until neer 4,000RPM and when it does it is very rough! Recently changed the fluid to see if it would solve problem but it didnt do anything . If anyone has had this problem or knows how it can be fixed please respond. Thank you.

My 98 Expedition 4.6 does the same think sometimes. I thought it was just me, but my buddy has a 98 Explorer that does the same thing.

Also, if you "get on it" from a complete stop it doesn't shift from 1st to 2nd very lightly. Sometimes it feels like you lose all power and it's about to send you into the steering wheel until you let off a little bit.

That could be you hitting the rev limiter, so you ARE losing power. I've done it a couple of time by accident and man it's a weird feeling....

Yes, that's exactly what happens. Feels like I lose every bit of power I have until I let off the gas. Maybe that's what it is????
