I have a problem with my 5-speed manual tranny. It's not very annoying, but sometimes when I shift from 2nd to 3rd, my gears will rake. And it's also hard to get into 1st gear in the morning when it's cold outside. If I were to put Amsoil tranny fluid in my transmission, would it help smooth it out any? I've heard good things about Amsoil, and also, is Amsoil Tranny fluid a synthetic?

I have the same problem with the 5spd in my 98. The Service Mgr where I work claims that changing the trans fluid should take care of it, says that he has seen this before and that it is quite common. I am dropping my truck off today to have it changed. I'll let you know if it makes a difference.
I am eager to hear how it goes with your truck alanr. Tell me if it shifts any better. I heard that the factory put the wrong kind of fluid in these transmissions. I think they were supposed to have synthetic in them instead of the regular fluid.
