4WD question on 94 F-150

I have a 94 F-150, 302 with an auto. My problem is that when I put it into 4WD the light comes on, you hear a little noise (sounds like it is engaging), but the front wheels don't spin. The truck is new to me, I just got it a couple of weeks ago. There is no grinding or anything, the fuses are good. It is a push button system so there is no manual lever. Is there a way to check the electronic control. Please help.

the front hubs on this vintage are notoriously prone to malfunction. my '94 and my brother's '95 both had to have the front hubs replaced. i'd bet that this is your problem. good luck.
