how many miles can you get from a A/T

I'm wondering how many mile you guys/gals are getting out of your automatics before they need a rebuild. I got 83K on my 98 4x4 4.6 auto. Just wondering.

Thanks all

My 98 4x2 with 4.6L as 104,000 miles and it still runs like new. I dont anticipate EVER needing a rebuild. I think the key to long life is proper managment. Consistant fluid changes will ensure a smooth running trany for thousands of miles.

I saw an E4OD out of a diesel ambulance a few years ago that had gone 346,000 miles without a rebuild. It didn't look all that bad torn down, either.

The transmission was still working when the ambulance was scrapped.

143,000 miles on my 4R70W to date. No issues to date. Tranny recieves regular fluid flushes roughly every 30,000 miles. I'm not anticipating any major service anytime soon either!

My 98 has a hard 192,412 miles. The fluid was replaced twice. The transmission is having a tough time on the 2-3 shift when cold.

No issues in 137,000 miles on my '97 4R70W with regular fluid changes. High temps and lack of maintenance are big culprits when it comes to auto transmissions. Install an auxillary cooler if you plan on towing alot.

That should read E4OD. There is no such thing as an AOE4OD.

how many miles on a tranny

I have a 98' F150 styleside, 2 wheel drive. My transmission went out at 54,000 miles. Ford didn't really care!
