Things I like about Ford's transmission tuning for the 2000 model year:

the way my transmission shifts as smooth as silk -- like a car.

the way the torque convertor stays locked -- even when I've let off the throttle at highway speeds (so as to reduce the amount of converter unlock/lock cycles).

the way the torque convertor does not lock until 38-40 mph.

the way the torque convertor does not lock until things warm up.

the way the engine stays throttled in OD when I take my foot off the gas -- so as to give a free-wheeling effect (boy, is that noticeable in 4wD Low).

the way it DOES engine brake when directed to (by using 1st or 2nd gear)

the seconod gear ratio that allows me to use second gear at any speed/time during normal trailer towing.

the button shift for direct/overdrive

the 1800 rpm torque convertor which lets me drive around town rarely needing more than 2000 rpm.

the way it quickly downshifts for passing.

that I can start off in second gear in the snow.

that it has transmission coolers and synthetic lube.

that it is quiet.

that it shifts exactly where and how I would have designed it to shift.

Nice work, Ford.

I have to agree with you this is the first auto I had in a long while and the almost 2 years I've been driving it it shifts very well and with almost 40,00 on the truck it still going strong with no problems.
