Talking Installed "Factory Tech" Valve Body.

I purcased this from http://www.powersurgeperformance.net/
I just got back from a 30 mile drive and the shifts are fantastic. It's FIRM but not neck-snapping. I also have the Superchip, so that helped some. Just wanted to say thanks to Factory_Tech for his product and excellent help. Installation was a breeze, but messy. I highly recommend it.

You haven't by chance tried it with the chip out have you? I'm curious what difference that makes.

If normal driving is quick and firm, how about WOT? How about downshifts and kicking it down to pass etc?

Sorry for all the questions but I'm tempted!

FamilyRide- I haven't taken the chip out yet. I will, when the snow starts coming. There's no reason to have it in the winter time.

The 1-2 and 2-3 shifts are great on normal driving, but the 1-2 is alittle harsh on WOT. Kinda feels the truck jerks somewhat. But this is with the Superchip, so it shouldn't be that bad when the chip comes out. Downshifts is more responsive and there's less slop in the tranny.

Also, my truck stalled once when I put it in reverse the second time I drove it yesterday. But it restarted with no problems and haven't experienced any other problems so far.

Factory_Tech, question about the valve body

I noticed on your site that you said the valve bodies were designed by a Ford factory engineer. Did you do the Jerry W. modifications to these valve bodies? Just curious.

Familyride- Good question for Greg. Unfortunately, my boat has been stored for winter. So I won't get results until next year. I did pull a trailor and 2 snowmachines to the house today. No problems at all.

I don't know what the Jerry E mod is. Sal sort of overstated my qualifications, I'm ot an engineer, I'm a Manufacturing technician (repairman) at the Sharonville Transmission Plant. It's a minor typo that I should have him correct, but I haven't. Strangely enough, my formal training is as an accountant ( I have an MBA would ya believe?)

As for the Expy, the same mod I do for a Lightning will work in any 4R100, I use some different calibrations for diesels, but they are more or less interchangable. The Lightning kit will work fine.

Factory_Tech,

I'm very interested in your modifications, but right now the price is holding me back a little. I've read on other threads that you do more than just upgrade/replace the tricumulator springs and valve. I've also read that you used to offer your upgrade for a lot less. Do you sell just the springs and valve in a "kit" or just the whole shootin' match through the website mentioned above? I would be very interested in getting all of the pieces and installing them myself.

So what exactly is involved with the valve body? And what are the advantages or differences compared to, say a Transgo shift kit?

Stephen,

Similar parts are available for a do it yourself install. http://www.techtranstool.com/tric.html has the springs and also sells the Sonnax valve.http://www.powerglide.com/featured/9...nger_valve.htm These parts are a one size fits all kinda deal. I'm sure that the complete valve body is more in tune with your specific vehicle.

Thanks, V10 man. I've been leaning real heavily towards ordering from Tech Trans & Tool. I'm just looking for firmer shifts. I probably would not even notice the difference between Factory_Tech's full up valve body mod and the tricumulator springs and Sonnax valve only. I take it you are happy with the Tech Trans & Tool parts.

Question

Still have the valve body in and very satisfied with shifts. BUT the truck occasionally stalls or almost stalls when put in Reverse. This happens about one in ten times. Any ideas? Thanks.

The difference is like night and day. You will notice quick and firm shifts. 1-2 being the firmest and gets progressivly softer.

I also cahnge the 321 and 310 valve and springs, and I have a differnt supplier now, but the mod is pretty much the same if you want to buy your parts and install it yourself.

Jupiterak, I don't think the accumulator has anything to do with the reverse problem, but if you want to shoot me an address, I'll replace the one you have, just to be sure.

E-mail me for details
