Transmission replacement - what is everyone paying

I knew this day would be coming.....I've been having nightmares about it ever since the extended warranty ran out.

What kinds of prices are all of you guys getting for transmission replacement?
Ford or trans shop?
I'm assuming they also replace the torque converter and trans radiator. Do they also replace the flexplate as well?

I'll be looking to get the work done in Northern NJ....Bergen County.

Below are the details of what I've got going on:

2008 F-150 fx4 screw with 189k on the body and 176k on the tranny....yes, the original tranny died with 13k on it due to a bad seal.

Ford just called and told me that my flexplate is cracked. They want $1450 - $1650 just to replace the plate. If I'm going this far I may as well get a whole new transmission.

The truck is in great shape. Looks great still, engine runs great and I keep it well maintained.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Ford wants $5,000 to replace the transmission.....not including a new trans radiator. This is just for a remanufactured transmission, flexplate, torque converter and seals. They claim that the parts are $3100 with the rest being labor.

That's a bit more than I was expecting.

Wow, I didn't know I could make over $250/hour replacing parts. I need to re-think the physical shop situation.

That's nuts.

I agree.....crazy price.

I'm betting that this dealership is double dipping the price by adding the flexplate replacement cost of $1500-ish to their cost of transmission replacement which I figured should be about $3500....whereas the flexplate replacement can/should happen during the tranny replacement.....no double labor.

I need to place more calls to other shops.

Just had my tranny replaced....Rebuilt.... for my 05 F-150. I'm not sure if the torque converter was or not but it ran me $2500. That was 4R75W. Not done thru the dealer but maybe I should have. Having problems now. Lol
