97 auto 4R70W 4.2 crazy problems and sensors?
I have been without my truck now for 5 months.
Christmas Day is suppose to be 60 degrees, so I am
going to go under the truck and drain the tranny
and check out if any metal or sludge is in it.
I could make this a really long story, as its
almost comical. Had engine rebuilt for 5K and
the Tranny rebuilt for 2K and put tons of money
into different parts where everything is sorta new.
While in CT, it started slipping and My service guy
put some lucas slip stuff in and it was fine.
I guess either a wiring harness or solenoid was
replaced awhile back.
I drive all the way to TN with no problems and after
a while, it started slipping. Guy towed my truck and said
I needed a new starter and its all fixed.
I picked it up and while it started much better, as soon
as I drove out it would not leave first gear. I went back
and we drained fluid from tranny and put more lucas in.
I lost the reverse, and had to be careful how I parked.
I had another guy look at it and he replaced my tranny
coolant lines and things were nice. I did have to press the
button on the shifter, like I was towing something, but it was
fine.
So now the truck will only go into reverse and no forward
gears. I really feel like its an electrical issue and not that
My tranny is bad (gears) but taking off the pan will help
me to determine that somewhat.
Ive looked at photos but just wish I knew if I could do a continuity
test or something with my sensors to tell if they are good or bad ???
thanks for any help, it would be much appreciated.
