Identifying transmission.

I have a 2008 ford f150. 4.6L V8 2 wd. Trying to find out what type of transmission it has and I have a 2002 ford f150 v6. Can the transmissions interchange

It really doesn't matter what you have - it's going to be a 4R70W/E or 4R75W/E but the Triton V8 has a different bellhousing bolt pattern than the Essex V6. Not possible to interchange.

As mentioned, it won't bolt up. Even if it would though, in 04 the ring gear changed and the truck wouldn't be driveable with the old transmission in there. It would be in 4th gear by 15mph and throwing codes.
