Transfer case and differential oil replacement
I have 156k on my 2001 f150 4x4 and I bought it in december and looking to change the oil in my transfer case and differentials.
Does anyone know what tools are needed and how difficult it is, i know the transfer case is pretty straight forward but i am not sure about the differentials.
any help would be appreciated.

Yeah, the transfer case has a drain plug and a fill plug. If you can find a bottle cap with a fill nozzle like the differential lube bottles have, you can just fill from the bottle with Trans Fluid. fill until it runs back out.
The rear has to have the cover removed to drain. Buy a gasket and forget about the silicone gasket crap. You need to know if it has a traction lok rear and if so, use a bottle of friction modifier with the fluid. fill from the bottle with the pointed cap. You can pour the FM into the lube bottle to get it in. Fill until it runs back out.

Always remove the fill plug before removing the drain plug or unbolting the cover - just to make sure you can before it's too late!
Does the front axle have a drain plug or do you have to remove that cover too?
Fluids:
Transfer case - Mercon-compatible ATF or Ford transfer case fluid
Rear axle - 75W140 synthetic + Ford friction modifier if it's a LS
Front axle - 80W90 conventional, 75W90 synthetic is okay
