Clunks in Third

Clunks in Third
At least... I think it's third. When the transmission shifts at around 30mph, it engages a little less smooth than it used to, and it's accompanied by a clunk which feels like it emanating from somewhere in the back half of the truck.
It is a noise and feels like a light tap as well.
The 1-2 shift doesn't make any noise, and feels smooth, and shifting into OD doesn't make a noise, either.
Downshifting from any gear does not produce any clunks.

^^
This is what happened just prior to the noise.
I have greased the slip yoke, and the front and rear u-joints are in good condition... so those can be eliminated?
What could cause the clunk? 4R70W with 193,000 miles.

Well, my original transmission probably will take a dump soon, so I bought a used unit from LKQ with only 53,000 miles on it.
I could use all the tips and tricks for installing it.
Removing the factory one definitely has me worn out.
Now I have an extra transmission laying around. I'd like to rebuild it in my free time, but that seems like another gigantic hassle.
