help with pulling engine, trans & T-case
Help!
I have a few busted header studs in my '01 5.4 4WD. I'll be pulling the engine and trans. How do I deal with the transfer case? Will I have to drop it or yank it out with the engine and trans? Can it stay where it is? I've never pulled a 4WD set-up before. The heads are going to a machine shop and I'll change out the chains and what ever it needs at 150K miles. It's easier for me to work on an engine stand. Any help or tips will be appreciated.
Thanks,
MR

Drop the Tcase first, then pull the engine and transmission together.
you will need a special tool for the torsion bars and remove the rear crossmember that holds the bars in place, then drop the front and rear drive shafts and remove the Tcase.
while you have everything apart, I recommend you replace the Tcase input shaft seal. They are notorious for leaking.
