Hi there so this is my first post to the site and I was wondering if anyone could tell me how I would go about checking what trans I have, seeing as my tranny cooler lines are rotted out and I need to order new ones but have no clue what transmission my truck has. In case anyone could tell by the the truck info (03 5.4l lariat xlt supercab) that would be great. Any and all help is greatly appreciated. Also I cant get the part # of the lines themselves because all my tools are at my dads and im at my mom's right now so i cant get the skid plate off the truck to get at the lines.

 

Look at the sticker on the door jam. There is a code for the transmission. You should have the 4R70W. If the sticker has a U code that is what it is.

 

Look at the sticker on the side door of the truck. Where it says |TR| it will give you a letter either U or E.

E = E40D
U = 4R70W

If im not mistaken you probably have the 4R70W

If what I said is wrong please let me know. Im still learning

1998 was the last year of the E4OD, so you don't have one of those. If the door tag shows an E you have a 4R100. It could be either a 4R100 or a 4R70W.

I recently had a trans rebuild now the truck feels slower the trans I got looks bigger than the one I had( I could just be crazy) 1995 w/ 4.9l 300 s six 5 speed manual, any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
