Need Help Replacing Transmission

I know this is off the thread but there is no site that I found to give me the answers I need I have a 2002 E150 5.4 and with a 4r70w that is trashed. I have 4r100 transmission an trying to figure out how to make work in. I'm low on funds otherwise I would just replace the transmission needed but I know the 4r100 is a good transmission. Understand that wiring an replacements will be needed would anyone be able to help me out with details or where I could go to find the right answers thank you for your time

So it's a van? Regardless, bad news , yea you'll need a 4r70w for it.

If your low on funds you can try a shift kit for the trans you have and use GOOD trans fluid to fill it back up with.

Lilgnomey85, I moved your post to its own thread. I think you might get better responses that way. I also deleted the duplicate post you entered in the General Discussion section. Duplicate posts tend to create confusion.

Welcome to the forum. I hope your problems are taken care of soon.

Before installing the shift kit, clean the accumulator body free from contaminants. Material tends to build in there and inhibits the springs and pistons causing issues of course.

Elaborate upon what went wrong with your 4r70w, before concluding it was trashed.

It will cost you more to use a free 4R100 than buy a new 4R70W, but if that's what you want, here are a few things you'll need to do. There probably are more, but this is all I can think of at the moment.

You need a new wiring harness, or the ability to build one. The 4R70W harness won't connect to the 4R100. You'll need a wiring diagram for a 5.4L/4R100 to be able to construct a harness.

You need a computer for a 2002 5.4L/4R100. The computer in your truck WILL NOT run a 4R100.

You need to move the transmission crossmember. The 4R100 is longer than the 4R70W.

You need to shorten the driveshaft. The 4R100 is longer than the 4R70W.

As long as the 4R100 you have is for a 5.4L or 6.8L it will bolt to your engine. A diesel version will not.
