hello all,
i bought a 99 expedition with a bad trans, i have a 97 expy that i was gonna use for parts, that is until i found out they were different trannys(99 is 4r100, 97 is e4od)
the symtoms on the 4r100 are that it won't go right into gear when i shift into drive and will slip on hard acceleration. if i take it easy and drive normal, it's not too bad. the 97 i've had since almost new, it has almost 300k on it, but i've always maintained it and it was good when we parked it.
the way i'm thinking, if i switch the trans and the connectors and put the ecm from the 97 to the 99, it might work, as long as the ecm's control the motor the same. or, should i buy a rebuild kit from monster trans and try to rebuild the 4r100?
i just got laid off, i need to make this work. all suggestions are welcomed.

I don't think you can swap the ECM's because I believe the 99 has PATS and electronic odometer, the 97 has no PATS and a mechanical odometer. I also believe there are sensor differences between the 2 different year transmissions.
