2003 4.6 5 speed issues

I have an 03 f150 with a hurst 5 speed in it. I believe the slave is going out on it. How can I tell and what's the easiest way to replace them. My issues are I'm loosing fluid and have no idea where is going because there really aren't any puddles where I park just a few minor drips

The tranny has to come out to replace the slave - it's concentric with the throwout bearing.

Look behind the carpet behind the clutch pedal for fluid leakage, it might be the master cylinder. Pull the rubber dust plug at the bottom of the bell housing and see if fluid drips out, that would be the slave.

If you have to do the slave, do a complete clutch job, pilot bearing, and rear main seal while you are in there. Get the flywheel bench ground or replace it.

Okay I'll check them places, if it's the slave then I'll just have a shop do it. Is it pretty coming for a selave to go out ? What makes it go out ?

It's VERY common - the new slaves are an improved design. Mine blew in 06 with 55k on it.

If you take it to a shop, a complete clutch job is going to cost you at least $1000 parts and labor.
