Trans will not go into any gear.

Heard a noise in my 2001 F150 SUPER CREW 4.6 V8. Now gear handle will sift in any gear with ease. But it's like being in neutral. Have to block the wheels from rolling.

Was it sloppy before it went out?

But I guess the most important question right now, is it an auto or a stick?

If it is an automatic look under the dash on the driver's side. Check that the shift lever is moving the bracket that holds the shift cable moves with the lever. There are two #30 Torx bolts that loosen and fall out. If they do then the lever moves very easily and won't control the transmission.
