I want to install a 5spd manual in my 85 f150 with a 300 l6 and t18 4 speed. I want a 5 spd that will give me the extra speed but one that will be able to take the beating that my t18 can take. any help would be nice.

 

If you want tough about the only choice you would have is the ZF5 that came in the F-250 and F-350 between 1988 and 1997. The zf5 that was behind the 300 l6 and the 351 has the same mounting as far as bolting to your 300. From what I understand, they never put a ZF5 behind a 302, although it should bolt up.

You will probably have a few issues with hump in the middle of the floor and the location of the shifter. I'm sure a few other issues as well as maybe a custom driveshaft, I'm sure you expected all that.

Is your 85 F-150 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive?
