Swapping in 4.6 TC in a 5.4?
Wondering if anyone has swapped out their 5.4 Low stall TC(K factor =110) with a higher stall 4.6TC(K factor =140)?
K factor is what used to calculate stall speed based on max Engine Torque
Our 5.4s max torque is 365ft-lbs so square root is 19.1
RPMstall = Kfactor x squareroot(Torque)
2,100 rpm stall = 110K x (19.1)
2,674 rpm stall = 140K x (19.1)
Many swap out out to a higher stall aftermarket TC in the 2,600 rpm range. Seems that is what a 4.6 TC would stall in that range behind a 5.4.
I found a nonOEM rebuilder offering both with HD upgrades to dampner/piston with 3yr warranty. $150each plus $25core.
Wondering if anyone went that route?
