When accelerating from a stop, my transmission has a slight whining noise. It just started doing it; doesn't matter if it's cold or hot The noise is not as bad at higher speeds, but I suspect other road and engine/exhaust noises are drowning it out.
Fluid level is normal, but never been changed yet. The sound appears to be a pump whine...somewhat like a variable speed sewing machine!
Any input would be appreciated...thanks.

Mine has made that noise since I bought it, 2k f150 SC 5.4, my 99 4.2 auto did the same thing and the 99 F250LD I had for a short period with the 4R100 did not make the noise, I just assumed it was the nature of the 4R70. If you do find there is a fix let me know.

 

Thanks for your reply. Did your's make the noise from day 1 or did it start after a certain amount of miles?

Mine just started to do that same exact thing you describe but mine's only in 3rd gear.

I'm not sure what it is, but I put the PSP factory tech shift kit in and that's not it!

I'm just going to pull my tranny and send it out to get it rebuilt by factory techfor some more serious performace. I'm tired of blowing up this tranny, stock sucks.

I'm waiting to see what he says about my e-mial.

My 01 makes a noise sort of like a wind through a cracked open window(whistle like), only on accelartion, up to 35 mph. Always did it.
