04 F150 Lost overdrive, servo clip broke
http://www.f150online.com/forums/tra...roke-pics.html
ISSUE
2004 Ford F150 lost overdrive, some of the symptoms of this include:
• No overdrive
• Shift right into neutral
• Not able to engine brake into 2nd gear
• If you turn of OverDrive, you can drive normally within the first three gears
This was caused by the overdrive servo retaining clip snap and lodged into the a valve on the valve body

First off, awesome thread! Great write up and contributions from all. I can't thank y'all enough for the great details.
I've got a 2004 Fx4 Screw with 129,000 that started doing the exact same thing as the original poster. Dropped the pan and valve body and boom, servo clip broken... Went to Ford with part numbers in hand, thanks again, and got everything I needed for $115.
About 4 hours later, I had everything back together and works perfectly! Took almost 10 qts to fill it back up. The only problems I encountered was trying to get the OD servo band back engaged and making sure you have the shift slide in the correct position BEFORE torquing down the valve body...
I used a small flat head screw driver that I bent into a "C" shape and it worked better moving the band into position. I used a 1" PVC pipe and floor jack to push servo up, worked great. Put the new clip on PVC pipe before jacking up to pull the old one out, save some time... I did everything by myself, but a helper would have been nice holding valve body in place while I started some bolts...
Thanks again everyone and good luck to those about to do it! It's not that bad, just messy...

My 2006 / 4R75E has started jumping/bucking in/out of OD at a sustained speed of about 45-50mph or about 1200rpm............
If I accelerate past/through the 45-50 mph (1200 rpm) range....... it seems to do fine. Like if I accelerate from 0 to 65mph ......... no problem.
I can turn OD off...... and there is no problem driving at all speeds.
Therefore, if I am driving around town at 40-50mph I can turn OD off. Once I'm running 55-60mph and up..... I turn OD on and no problem.
So ............ is this OD servo likely my problem or something else???

Correct. That's when the fuel map is the leanest and worn out spark plugs with excessive gaps will "blow out" and misfire.

My transmission was pulled and rebuilt about 3-4 months ago at about 132,500 miles. I'm now at 139,000. I did not have the problem until about 2 months after the rebuild.
I changed all plugs at about 105,000. No COPs were changed, just plugs.
I was going to change plugs again at 150,000. It would be worth doing this now. Much easier than opening or pulling transmission and can't hurt. I might change all COPs as well. I may take it to a shop before I do anything to have all of the COPs and plug firing checked to see if anything can be detected. I'll report back.

No boots changed and no dielectric grease.
From some of the reading here, just changing boots and using dielectric grease may solve my problem. If I am going to do that I will go ahead and change plugs at the same time.............. https://www.f150online.com/forums/20...dder-35-a.html
BTW ......... this morning I intentionally ran at the proper speed/rpm to cause the misfire. I have a ScanGuage II connected to OBDII. I watched the RPMs and they were somewhat unchanged. This confirms that I was not kicking in and out of overdrive as there was no significant swing in RPMs as would occur with the gear change. This also confirms that the problem is a misfire or at least not the OD. You can really just watch the dash RPM gauge. When I was having transmission problems the gauge would go nuts hopping back and forth.
Anyway........ sometime in the next week or so I will be changing plugs, boots and adding some dielectric grease. We'll see what happens.
UPDATE: Changed plugs, boots/springs with dielectric grease ............ the miss is gone and all is good. Also changed VCT solenoids, cleaned throttle body and MAF sensor, oil change, and new air filter. Runs great!!!!

I use only Motorcraft plugs, because they seem to last the longest. I also recommend replacing all the COP boots and the spring inside. Make sure to clean any corrosion off the metal tip in the COP that the spring seats on, also make sure to seat the spring fully on the metal tip. Use di-electric grease on the coil end of the spring and where the spark plug inserts.

4r75e first gear troulbes

od snap clip
I had the same problems with the Over drive snap clip opened up the values and found all the pieces reassembled it and the truck won't shift into any gear and won't allow me to even shift past nuetral. Also it seems to be jumping forward when i start up the truck. Any thoughts
Thank you
Thank you
