2000 trans campatibility

The day has finally come where my 235,000 mile 4r70w has given up the ghost. I am thinking to swap in a freshly rebuilt 4r75e from a 2004 f150. They are both 4wd. I know that the OSS count is different (can be changed via sct) and the epc solenoid will have to be compatible with mine as well. I believe that I am going to need the plug for the oss sensor as well. Anything else that I may run into as well? Input or out put shafts different? I am starting to pull it out today.

I will also add that the O/D light is blinking and I am throwing codes

p0135
p0155
p0443
p0743
p0750
p0755
p1451
p1747
p1760

Runs fine in neutral in and drive but has no power in D or R and a horrendous vibration. i also plan to run about a 2200 stall in this trans as well (4r75e)

I am now looking at 2003 model trans right now as well. They show 2 different part numbers for 2 different trans for 2003 5.4 4x4's. One is 1L3P-JA and the other is 2L1P-FA. What is the difference between the 2?

Is the 2003 4r70 and the 2000 4r70 plug and play except for the oss count?

I need this truck back on the road because I will be taking off for work soon.

i cant wait to see how this turns out. my 4r70w in my 2000 is in dire need of replacement, ive just been waiting for enough funds and finding a good deal on one. and if this swap will work it opens up the possibilities

I don't have the answers you seek. However, I do have a 2000 F150 that will not go forward any longer.
What I have ran into is that since my truck is the 5.4 and the 4x4, the only direct swap will have to come from a 00 to 03 with the same specs, or have it rebuilt for what the truck is currently worth.
So i'm looking for something that will make more financial sense.
Mine isn't a daily driver really. However I would like to make it reliable again.
With that, here is my subscription to this thread.

We seem to be in the same boat. From
What I understand direct swap for us is 99-00 and some 01-04's. Some had a different tailshaft from what I've been told

4r75e is in and working. The only direct swap for a 2000 is 99 or 00 model year transmissions. Manual would be too much work and the m50d is garbage as well as every other mazda trans out there

That's awesome! Congrats and good work.
Could you do myself and bansheeman a huge favor though; I know relatively nothing about f150 transmissions.
What donor trucks can you find the 4R75W in and what did you have to do to swap them?
Thanks again Gotts!

It can be found in 04-08 5.4 F150's. To make it work you need the pig tail for the OSS sensor. It's the one on drivers side near the tail shaft of the trans. You will then need to drop the valve body and replace the epc solenoid for one from a 98-03 trans (just get a new one). The OSS count will need to be corrected via SCT from 6-24 counts. The will also need to swap the internal wiring harness from your trans to the 4r75e. It's actually pretty easy. you may be able to use the wiring harness inside the 4r75e but I was unsure of the pin outs and it was easier for me to just swap the harness.

My biggest issue would be not having a SCT. I've been Tryin to diagnose my transmission, cause now it this colder weather it seems almost fixed then when it warms up outside it goes back to problematic. I'm
Almost wanting to think it may be a valvebody issue. I was told most recently possibly electrical/TCM, but I wouldn't think those would slowly worsen over time or be temperature dependent. So I'm gonna drop my pan again and look for metal. If it's clean I'm Gonna consider buying a new VB. If it's got metal, I'm
Gonna start looking for a teams again. Thing is I really can't afford one so I'm hoping for the VB

Go with a 4r100 guys! but it may not be applicable with the 4wd but my truck has a 4r100 and I have never had a hickup in 150000 miles. Rumer has it they are invincible. Its what the lightning gets if that tells you anything.
