Question tranny and gears-opinions

I have had a couple of tranny problems and was wondering if it might have to do with my gears. I have 35's with stock gears figure 3.55s on a 2006 xlt 4x4. Just wondering if any of you think the smaller gears might be hurting my transmission.

Thanks

Have you had the PCM reflashed to correct the speedometer?

No I have a gryphon programer and I use that. I'm currently waiting on a custom tune from bill and corey.

I have heard that it dosent hurt to run 35's with 3.55 gears but I was wondering if anyone thought that maybe that was what caused my tranny failure?

90% of the heat from a transmission is made in the torque converter when it is unlocked. Having 3.55s and 35s means when towing or off roading your converter will spend more time unlocked, thats all. You have a Gryphon so what you can do is keep an eye on your TFT and even set an alert if you wish. Personally I have an alert set for 180*F which is VERY safe. If you keep your temps down it is not harder on the transmission at all.

Whatever you do, do not tow in overdrive with those tires and gears.

If you have a 5.4, I'd get 4.10's, if you have a 4.6 get 4.56's.
