The tranny won't shift out of second. Transmission shop and dealer are both willing to rebuild tranny for $1500 -$2000. I saw on another forum that it may be shift solenoid. Where are they located. I can't seem to find diagrams or tech sheets.

Does the OD light blink? Any stored DTC codes with a scanner that can read tranny codes?

scanner

The overdrive light was blinking and stilll does at times. I have an OBD II scanner, but it apparently doesn't read tranny codes. I have a friend who works at one of the local vocational schools. He is checking with the tranny instructors about checking it out for me and possibly even doing the repair as well.

one easy thing you can do is check all connections to the trans, and verify if the main wiring harness is burned near the exhaust manifold...

as your now aware of, 2nd gear and OD light flashing means failure detected and default gear is 2nd.
