The masters will chime in I'm sure, but If my memory serves me, the SC'd 5.4s put out more than 700 ft/lbs of torque, so you will need a different tranny all together. The lightnings came with a 4R100 I believe.

One of the guys on here can build you a newer 4r75w. There supposed to be better then the 4r70w and stronger from the get-go.
He also has the info how wire it so you can run it with your stock computer.
Might want to look into that to before you make a decision.

i love it, handles everything i throw at it. just buy a new trans cooler too, i chose a fan mounted model for extra cooling.

phil, i've talked to Darrin about that trick. for the most part it sounded like a matter of starting w/ a newer trans and rewiring its connector. obviously after rebuilding what needs be

The 4R75W will cause an issue with the output shaft sensor since the ring gear on them is different than the 4R70W. There will be clearance issues with the old sensor and even if you use the new sensor there is a different tooth count on the ring gear which will whack the shift schedule.

Honestly, strength wise there isn't any difference between a properly built 4R75W or any version of a properly built 4R70. Some vendors like to use smoke and mirrors to up-sell their product.

Transmission compatible

I have a 05 f150 extend cab with a 4r70e tranny. The door sticker show A for the tranny. Can I use the tranny out of an 04 f150 2wd. My truck is 2wd. The 04 tranny sticks show 3lp3 both tranny's have the same fuild pan.

If both trucks are V-8 and new body style (not a Heritage) they should be compatible.
