changing over a 2wd 4r70w to a 4x4

hello all i was wandering if anyone might know if it is possible to change over the tailshaft and such on a 2wd 4r70w to make it a 4x4 4r70w is this possible? if so are there any extra parts needed other than a 4r70w 4x4 parts tranny as i am having trouble finding a a 4x4 tranny resonably priced but am finding 2wd trannies all over cheap thanks for the help

ok thanks i wasn't sure if it was possible just weighing my options guess i'll be on the look out for a cheap transmision if there is such a thing

yes... requires a complete dis/assemble proceedure. my one i got from rods cars WAS from a grand marquis (crown vic) and had my 4x4 output housing.

your basically tearing all the way into it, you may as well just rebuild the one you have.
