trans trouble

I have a 98 150 4.2l 2wd w/ 36000 miles. The trans downshifts at the wrong time(slow) and shutters alot, sometimes making a clunking noise. most noticable 3rd t0 2nd and 2nd to 1st. Its like it wont shift down fast enough and it starts to bog the engine, it shakes the truck until it finally downshifts. The other thing is if I put the truck in 2 gear to start out it shakes and kills the engine, do the same w/ 1or D it works as normal. Just changed the filter and fluid last night, the fluid looked great and didn't smell burnt at all. Upshifts are ok, maybe a little sharp, feels like 1-2-3 shifts might be a little fast. Sorry so long- just trying to give all of the info. Thanks
