Well i did a pan drop and filter change tonight on mine 04 f150 fx4 with 104k on it, and to my surprise that stupid plug is still in the pan. All i hope is that somebody just flushed the tranny before i bought it. The transmission seems to shift fine though, but here in a week or so i will flush the rest out through the cooler line.

Haha, I remember when I was a kid working in a service station and the station operator(30 yrs experience at that point) did a fluid change on his baby, a '73 Chrysler New Yorker, and found a plug laying in his pan. Fooled him too, guess maybe they had just started using the "plugs"? He called the Chrysler dealer and asked them about it. Fools everyone the first time around I guess.

The little plug means that you were the first to pull the pan. I had one in my pan also the first filter change. It is just a factory plug put in the dip stick hole to keep dirt and dust out till the trani is installed and the dip stick tube is installed.

Do you always reply to a thread without reading all the posts first?
