hard shift at WOT (downshift)

Saw the question about no shift at WOT, how about if it shifts, but feels like someone hit the floor pan with a rubber mallot, kind of an abrupt downshift? This is with o/d on. 1999 4.2L 4R70W. Upshifts fine through the gears, very smooth. Only kickdown to pass, it's like an abrupt bump into the lower gear. Does this most of the time (occasionally downshifts ok, but not often).
Thanks.

Drop it out of overdrive before you make that WOT downshift and it bet it doesn't do that.

thanks, is that the way they are supposed to work?

Maybe I need to read the manual.
I think you are right, will try going out of o/d and see how it does.

Thanks for the reply
