How many miles?

If the fluid is in pretty rough shape, dont change too much of it out, or you could make things worse

That's an old wive's tale. It isn't true.

New fluid NEVER hurts a transmission. There is a reason people think it does. Most people don't do any maintenance on their trans until it acts up. They check the fluid and see that it is nasty. They change the fluid and the trans dies. It didn't die from new fluid, it would have died if they didn't change the fluid. Neglect killed it, the new fluid couldn't save it.

Mark ever heard of the "Delta Point?"

do some research, the trans learns how the fluid acts in the transmission, and too much new fluid can shock the system so to speak, if the old fluid was very bad.

I completely agree.

I think it's idiotic to believe that transmission fluid is good for a lifetime......HA! Yes! The lifetime of the transmission! So if you never change the fluid, that fluid will be good until the transmission dies, right? Right! But it never occurs to these people that the transmission died because they didn't change the fluid! By changing the fluid regularly, they could have prolonged the life of their transmission.

Try that with your engine. Don't change the oil. I am willing to bet that on a brand new engine, with the factory fill, you could drive a brand new car for the first 3 years, or 30K miles, on that same oil. The car will still start and run. The oil, whatever is left that didn't burn off, will look really bad. Then the motor dies after the warranty is over. But that is called "lifetime" motor oil. It lasted the lifetime of the engine.

Right......it learns that.

I've done research on transmissions. I was a transmission engineer for 19 years. I do know a thing or two about them. I don't believe a word of what you wrote is true. But if it makes you happy believing it, be my guest.
