Unhappy Add me to the dying 4R70W list.

Well, after 217K miles, I guess I can't complain (much).

Had to pull my LS out of the yard where I parked it last night (it snowed a bit over night and I'm on a hill.) I put the truck in 4WD low so I could better modulate the pull, tightened up the strap, and then, slip, slip, slip. I was able to get it out, but I'd swear something smelled "hot" when I got done.

Weird thing is, under normal driving conditions, it acts completely normal (although after driving a bit tonight, and pulling up the hill of my drive, I'd swear I smelled "hot" again briefly. Maybe my imagination?)

Anyway, I'm debating 1) a full rebuild, 2) a "repair" replacing just the failed/worn parts (forward clutches, maybe?) or 3) finding a lower-mile unit from a yard and swapping it myself. I like the price of option #3 the best, but that may not be the overall best solution, as I have no intentions of getting rid of the truck in the near future.

If anyone has suggestions, I'd appreciate the input. Thanks.

Andy
