Broken gear shifter (pics included)

Last night I was going from park into drive and the shifter was really loose and had a lot of play in it, I tried putting it into Neutral and back into drive and there was a loud snap in the column and the shifter went limp pretty much.

today I took apart the column and got this far

This is the inside of the truck lookin at where the shifter was

the problem I have is I'm not a mechanic and I'm not too good with tools, but I think I can do this one. so I need to know how to take the clamp/bracket in the last pic that's under the dash.

In the pic below with the rod going straight down you can see the brass screw holding the other side of the shifter, I don't know how to get to that.

any help would be great, even if you cant tell me how to take it apart, the names of the parts that are broken or what i need to replace.

oh and if a mod is on, can they pm me about my old account, I cant post with it anymore and had to make a new one.

the truck is a 1993 Ford F150 XLT ext. cab A/T

I also have a few more pics on http://zerowned.net/shifter/ you can click that link and see more
